If you watch Whip It online, you can count on a very entertaining story that is very well acted and directed. The screenplay for Whip It comes from Shauna Cross’ young adult novel Derby Girl.

Director Drew Barrymore brings out the best in this inspiring and funny movie that stars Ellen Page. Page was selected to star in Whip It before she was cast in the 2007 hit movie Juno.

Bliss is a teen whose mother pressures her to be in pageants, which she intensely dislikes. Knowing her mother wouldn’t approve, she joins a roller derby league.

Co-producing with Barry Mendel, Barrymore’s directorial debut is a joint production of her Flower Films, and Mandate Pictures. Barrymore didn’t know how to skate at first, and so she gave herself a small, supporting role where she wouldn’t have to do much skating.
