Shahid Kapoor, who appears to have taken his breakup with Kareena in his stride, has for the first time given a glimpse of the anguish within him…

Asked if he thought the relationship with Kareena was for keeps he told HT City:

“Yes I did…but that should be understandable to anyone…we were together for four years. But that is life!”

The 26-year-old wasn’t prepared to go any further and dwell on what caused the breakup.

“All I can say is that there are no hard feelings. I respect Kareena and wish her happiness,” he said.

Asked whether he would be prepared to act again with Kareena, in view of the resounding success that their recent film Jab We Met appears to be enjoying at the box office, Shahid was just a little circumspect.

“Why not? I hold her in high esteem as an actress. But we need the right script,” he responded.
